Hello everyone! Due to the requests of many people. I have decided to update my blog. Sadly, as some of you may know, I am no longer living in Malaysia. So starting from this post, this blog will be about my life in Canada. Although I feel very reluctant to do so, I have no choice. But let me warn you though, this post may be pretty long. So if your bored just stop reading. Ok? Here we go.
Well, it all started on the 15th of December.
Our flight was at 9 in the morning and we had to be checked in at least an hour earlier. We had only slept a wink the night before because we were up packing until 4 in the morning. We also had to wake up at 4.30 in the morning. We were woken up by the sound of the doorbell at 5 in the morning. A half hour later than the time we had planned to wake up. It was both uncles and my aunt and cousin (from my mothers side). They were here to pick us up and take us to the airport. We basically had to force ourselves to wake up and we didn't even have time to say goodbye to our house. The house which I had lived in all my life. We never moved from that house for 16 years. But we didn't even have time to feel emotional. It was a long and quiet ride to the airport. When we arrived at the airport, my Uncle Richard said he had to go. So we said our goodbyes to him and then we checked in our luggage and went to McDonalds for breakfast. Then my mum and dad's good friends showed up. I was really feeling crushed at the time. Then my Uncle David and his wife Aunt Helen and their daughter my cousin Lydia said they had to go. It was so hard to say goodbye to them. But of course, we had to. Suddenly, out of the blues my sisters friends showed up! They gave her lots of gifts and her good friends the twins Woon Kwan and Woon Teng gave me, and my brother gifts too! Their mum also gave my parents some things. Then after taking some pictures and chatting a while, it was time to go. Again, tears rolled down my cheeks as I said goodbye to my parents good friends Uncle Charles and Aunt Arun, and also my sisters friends. As I walked away and waved my heart felt so heavy. In my heart all I could think of was how much I'm going to miss this place. As we got onto the plane, my eyes couldn't help but tear. I was officially going away. Away from the place where I lived for my entire life. As the planes engines started I couldn't stop looking out the window. I could still see some houses far away. The entire plane ride to Hong Kong was just so emotional for me. I kept seeing flashbacks of my time in my beloved Malaysia. I felt a little happier when they served 'Nasi Lemak' on the plane as it was like my last taste of Malaysian food (besides my mothers cooking of course).
We landed in Hong Kong at about 12.30pm. It was of course a little colder than Malaysia. In fact it felt like I was in Cameron Highlands. Of course besides the Chinese writing everywhere and the fact that everyone spoke Cantonese. But it did remind me of home a little. It was also pretty misty. At the airport, we were met by a lady whose name was Sharown. She was one of the helpers for Pastor Gloria. Pastor Gloria was introduced to us by My parents really good friend, Aunt Yvonne. Pastor Gloria was the lady who volunteered to give us a place to stay during our 1 day transit to Canada. So Sharown met us at the airport and took us to the bus that was going to take us to the place we were going to stay in. Instantly my mum and Sharown became really close as my mum speaks Cantonese and she is the most fluent in our family of 5 because my dear Grandmother only speaks Cantonese. I guess Sharown reminded her of home. We took a bus from the airport to Pastor Gloria's home. It was about an hours drive as the airport is located on a different island. Let me tell you this, almost everyone in Hong Kong lives in an apartment. Almost like Singapore. When we arrived, I found out that Pastor Gloria didn't live in the apartment that we stayed in but she lived a few floors down. The place we stayed in was specially for guests. So after we got settled in, Sharown took us to meet Pastor Gloria who was in the city. I think it was called 'Mongkok' Again, it took about an hour and a half by bus for us to reach 'Mongkok'. Of course I fell asleep on the way. We then met Pastor Gloria and another man who was also a pastor named Pastor Abraham who was visiting from China. We then went for dinner at a very nice restaurant. And I discovered something about Hong Kong and that is the food in Hong Kong is superb! Pastor Gloria ordered plenty of dishes as we couldn't read Chinese. We had a wonderful and life changing time during our dinner. It is to long to explain but all I can tell you is that it was amazing. After dinner, we went to a church for a night sermon. It was not very different from the sermons in Malaysia as it was a guest speaker from Africa who spoke English! So that was good. After the sermon it was raining so we went for supper and ate 'Wan Ton Mee'. After that Pastor Gloria, Sharown and Pastor Abraham took us to a prayer tower. After that we took a bus home. During the bus ride my heart kinda felt heavy again because we had to leave, again. I still missed everyone and everything back home. Especially my Grandmother. You see, my Grandmother and I are really close. I love her very much and she was one of the people that really made me feel sad about leaving. Anyway, after a tiring day, we went back to the apartment for a good nights sleep. The next morning, it was time to pack up and leave again. We said our goodbyes and headed of to the airport. Our flight was at 12.50pm and we had left the apartment at 9am. So we had a nice lunch at the airport and then it was time to fly again. This time our flight was to Vancouver. It was going to be an 11 hour plane ride. In the plane I watched 5 movies and ate nothing for the plane was experiencing plenty of turbulence and I kept feeling like I was going to puke. Of course I drank lots of water though. I didn't sleep a wink during the entire journey.
When we arrived in Vancouver, it was raining and it was cold. And I mean like 4 degrees Celsius. But hey, you get used to it. I mean last night it was -22 degrees but the wind chill factor was -33 degrees Celsius. Hows that for cold? So when we reached the Vancouver airport we felt like we were going to faint because none of us slept in the plane for more than an hour. After going to the immigration department, we went to the food court for some sandwiches and delicious hot chocolate. And of course you know whats next, yup you guessed it. Time to fly again.
Finally, after another flight for an hour and a half we finally reached Calgary, Alberta. In the sky, all I could see was the colour white. All over the ground. And yes. It was snow. How beautiful! All our energy was drained out by then. I couldn't even recognize my Aunt Irene when I saw her! And I didn't even know she was standing in front of me when she was! Anyway, we then got our luggage and my Uncle Joe drove us to our new home.
Well, thats all for now. I shall update more about my stay here later. I'll even throw in some pictures! Well, see ya! And thanks for reading! :]
